Adult psychiatrist specializing in mood disorders and treatment-resistant depression, with over 30 years of clinical experience providing evidence-based psychiatric care.
Our practice is built around a simple and consistent principle: mental health treatment should be clear, evidence-based, and focused on individual needs. We believe in helping patients understand their symptoms, treatment options, and expected outcomes so they can make informed decisions about their care.
Many individuals seeking care have experienced depression for years, often beginning earlier in life or returning repeatedly despite treatment. Others live with ongoing, low-grade depressive symptoms that never fully resolve. Our approach focuses on identifying these patterns and selecting treatments that address long-term illness, not just short-term symptoms.
Dr. Hazem Sokkar is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 30 years of experience treating the full range of adult psychiatric conditions, with a primary focus on major depressive disorder. He graduated from Ain Shams University College of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, completed his psychiatry internship at Temple University in Philadelphia, and his psychiatry residency at the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Sokkar specializes in treating recurrent and chronic depression, particularly in patients who have not responded adequately to antidepressant medications or psychotherapy. His approach integrates advanced psychiatric evaluation with evidence-based treatment protocols, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
Dr. Sokkar’s evaluations include careful review of psychiatric, medical, and neurological history. This thorough approach helps explain why some patients have not responded to standard treatments and guides more effective next steps.
